Do Metal Roofs Last Longer?

Updated: May 20, 2022

Yes, metal roofs do last longer than asphalt-shingle roofs. Today's metal roofs are expected to last up to 40 years. However, this will depend on the gauge, material quality, and paint color you choose. For example, copper will have a different lifespan than will other metals.

Many in our coverage areas of southern parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama like the value metal roofs add to their structures (so you might get more if you sell the house in the future), and many like that it's mostly maintenance free. Depending on the color, you may want to paint once every 10 years.

We have lots of experience in helping homeowners and business owners choose the best metal roofs for longevity and endurance. And you'll want someone who will install it properly. Poor-quality workmanship in the installation will decrease the number of trouble-free years of your metal roof.
